June 22, 2009

Paint effects have definitely moved on from sponge rolling.  Take a look at these angular stripes – they’re a great idea for large, empty walls and their smart style is perfect for a home office area.

Home-made headboard

June 19, 2009

Most of the home-made head boards I’ve seen have been quite traditional or country in style.  However, this is a great modern idea.  They’ve put together nine canvases, all painted the same colour as the wall, then added in neon strips of paint for a quirky feature.

Mosaic mix and match

June 19, 2009

Check out this display of tiles behind the bath.  They’ve just stuck to one colour theme, but gone with a whole range of designs.  My favourite part is how they’ve been layered on top of each other – it really adds depth to the display.

Gardener’s den

June 18, 2009

I love this conservatory.  Admittedly its not the neatest scheme around, but I can just imagine repotting some plants or relaxing back in a big comfy arm chair.  Sometimes mess is best!

I’m a big BBQ fan! So I loved some of the ideas in this video, and what a beautiful garden, too!

Top tiling

June 16, 2009

I like this tiling idea for the kitchen.  They’ve used tile paint to create a geometric design, but my favourite bit is the shelf built to the same shape.

Let the light in

June 12, 2009

What do you do when the days get colder and your beautiful outdoor dining area goes to waste for the next few months? The owners of this conservatory have the right idea. By opting for a glass roof, the space gets just as much light as if they were outside, they get a clear view of the beautiful outdoor surroundings -  and they don’t ever have to worry about rain interrupting their meal!

Shimmering Moroccan minerals

June 12, 2009

Introduce this modern take on traditional Moroccan-style to your living room scheme in just five steps.

1) Opt for a restful and relaxing colour scheme with lilac and grape on the walls and grey and white upholstery.

2) Introduce shimmering metallics with embossed metal pieces of furniture and a large mirror.

3) Embellish cushions with iridescent shell or mother-of-pearl buttons.

4) Add interest to your windows with elaborate fretwork screens for an exotic edge.

5) Finish with Eastern-inspired, shimmering silver accessories.
