I know it’s not even November yet, but if Lidl is allowed to start playing Christmas songs in their stores – and a man wearing a business suit is allowed to play a trance version of ‘I wish it could be Christmas everyday’ on the tube – then surely I’m allowed to start getting excited about Christmas decorating ideas … aren’t I?
I’ve been busy quizzing the experts at Homebase, John Lewis and Marks & Spencer on top Christmas trends for 2009 – I’ll pop the videos up soon so that you can have a look. In the meantime, I can’t help but get gushy about some of the festive schemes i’ve seen. Hark! What theme to choose?
Perhaps I’ll go for a country-style meets Scandi-chic look for my living room – very ‘Christmas in the Alps’
Or maybe go Modern with vibrant Christmas decorations and colourful accessories, like in this living room.
Anyone decided what Christmas look they’re going for this year?

It is never too early for Christmas! I love the bright peacock colours mixed in with the traditional red, green and gold, although our Christmas decorations tend to be an accumulation of treasures kept over the years.

I love Christmas decorations so much!
I always want to do a theme each year but then there would be so many decorations that didn’t get used! It always ends up being a mish-mash of traditional with a sort of eclectic random things (like the glitter reindeer from Paperchase last year).
Does anyone actually buy whole new themes every year?!
