I’ve been busy quizzing the experts for their top trends for the new year (aren’t I nosey!) and they were happy to share their inside knowledge … they even let slip a couple of style tips!!
Moben‘s kitchenista, Terry Watson reveals the hottest kitchen trends for the new year.
Dolphin Bathrooms‘ guru, Geoff Wells gives us a sneak peak into what’s hot in the bathroom for 2010.
Crown colour expert Judy Smith spills the inside scoop on the sexiest shades to start off a new decade.
Well since inevitable Christmas holiday weight gain and summer beach holidays don’t tend to go hand in hand, i’ve been lusting after some snowy retreats. Five layers of clothing are sure to cover all manner of mincepie sins!
Check out theses luxurious snuggley hotels. Whether you’re going for the skiing; the gluhwein (or some sort of hot wine!); or just to marvel at a type of snow that doesn’t cause the national transport system to combust, these snowy escapes are sure to leave you longing for the Alpine life. (I know I am!)
Now that’s a bedroom with a view … or a bath with a view more like.
roomenvy - luxurious bedroom escape in the mountains
If you are physically able to move on Boxing Day (I know i’ll be weighed down by mincepies, but it’s worth a shot) then head to your nearest Moben for their half-price January sales … or just to have a look at their super-sexy brand new modern kitchen design for 2010. (I’ve sneaked a copy of the images to give you an idea!)
The Geneva kitchen‘s zingy lemon is great for adding a splash of sunshine to those gruelling mornings, combine it with either their city-chic anthracite, or their chalk finishes for a kitchen to make even the most swanky of pad’s mouths water!!
What’s more, it fits perfectly with one of the top kitchen trends for 2010 – high impact colour. I’ve been busy quizzing the experts for kitchen, bathroom and colour trends for the new decade – but don’t worry, I got it alllllll on camera!
I’ll let you know when it’s up!
roomenvy - mellow yellow accents kitchen
I admit, it’s a bit modern for my taste, (a country-style fanatic), but I think it’s super sleek and has oodles of designer style (minus the price tag!)

Glossy black bar stools + super-sleek island unit = funky breakfast bar (mine’s an espresso!)
roomenvy - kitchen multimedia station
Country-style lover or not, this unit MUST go in my kitchen!
Mind you, that was probably because a ‘white winter’ for me had meant waiting for a rail replacement bus for over an hour at 8am while silenty urging my toes to stay attached!
However, when I finally got the feeling back I had a proper look. It’s so easy to opt for darker colours to create a warm and cosy space, but this snuggley living room space does just fine with neutrals of different tones and textures!
Check out these tips for cosying up this winter – who knows, it might just get you through the next time you’re standing on the cold train platform, contemplating hugging a random stranger, just for the body warmth!
Christmas time or not, this bedroom is just gorgeous (that beautiful bed is from Niki Jones!) It just goes to show that a string of simple fairy lights hung round a window and a star decoration will add bags of festive charm. It’s the perfect way to spruce up a guest bedroom.
roomenvy - deep shades dramatic Christmas bedroom
Here are those simple yet stylish fairy lights again! If you, like me, have decided to go down a different route this year, put last year’s ‘champs’ to good use by hanging them from your Christmas living room lampshade.
roomenvy - bauble blitz Christmas living room
Make a Christmas statement in your hallway by sticking baubles onto the walls with Blu-tack. Whether you go for the same shade or for a range of colours, it’s a sure-fire way of creating an eye-POPPING festive feature.
• noun1 a sudden longing for relaxing thoughts whilst doing some last-minute Christmas shopping. 2 (the calmenvy of) skill in carrying out last-minute Christmas shopping without wanting to lie down in Debenhams and take a nap!
Phew! I’ve made the most of a long weekend to get all everything sorted for Christmas, and besides a slight Christmas party dress buying ‘relief’ (what? It’s uniform?) I managed to get through it unscathed.
However, this morning i’ve been hunting for some tips to help Christmas day run as smoothly as possible (who KNOWS how many party dresses i’ll buy otherwise?) It might not be ‘roomenvy’, but in the interest of ‘calmenvy’ have a look at these tips.
Personally, I don’t know that many people with a super-modern home, so I was delighted to be asked to step inside a sleek modern house that’s dressed for Christmas.
… Ok, so they didn’t ‘ask’ per se, but i’m sure they won’t mind me stealing a bit of inspiration – i’ll bring it back?

I love the over-sized stars, pick up similar at DZD – they have fab modern decorations!

Pendant baubles are a great way to add festive charm to your blind.
roomenvy - Eastern-inspired Christmas bedroom
It’s just sooooooooooo pretty! And mistletoe above the bed? What a romantic touch!
Ok so, I might not feel as rested as I could be after a busy weekend, but if anything’s going to snap me out of the Monday tiredness it’s the prospect of stealing wow-factor wall tips this Thursday lunchtime.
Wall stencil guru and co-founder of The Stencil Library, Helen Morris, is popping into Housetohome.co.uk for a Wow-Factor Walls Webchat at 1pm, and is sure to reveal some fab tips and advice – so much more fun than standing in the queue at M&S!
I never thought that the crumpled ‘latest read’ stuffed into my bag could become part of a style statement in my home, but looking at these fab shelving ideas from housetohome, maybe it has more purpose than to entertain me on my commute?
If you’re inviting your friends and family over for the Christmas period you’ll want to make as festive an entrance as possible!
With the Christmas dining room planned – and with only a lowly advent calendar propped on my console table to symbolise the festivities – i’m turning my head to Christmas hallway ideas for inspiration.
I’m in lust with this chandelier from Roast Designs – it looks like a bunch of oversized baubles! p.s Credit to the family for wrapping all the presents in the same way!
roomenvy - accents of pink Christmas hallway
Add festive charm to your hallway console table with a mini Christmas tree and wreath. Line a cakestand with mini Christmas boxes filled with sweets, to hand out to your guests.
This is a really classic Christmas decorating scheme. Line leafy garlands of eucalyptus along the rail and add emphasis to a chandelier with oversized baubles.
roomenvy - classically golden Christmas hallway
Going for a more subtle festive look? Take inspiration from the founder of Maison‘s stylish home and add sparkle to your hallway table with shimmering Christmas accessories.
roomenvy - French country-style meets Scandinavian chic hallway
My personal favourite. A cute festive hallway filled with a leafy garland mixed with red ribbons and decorations, and hooks to hang up all those ‘mind-of-their-own’ Christmas cards!
