These homemade Easter decorations are just sooooooooooooooooo pretty, and are sure to brighten up your Easter breakfast table.
The April issue of Country Homes & Interiors has all the instructions and templates – but it seems unfair that you’ll miss out on it if you can’t get your hands on the mag … so I’ve ROBBED some of the pictures of their Easter decoration ideas. Hope you’re as inspired as I was ….
roomenvy - pretty Easter table setting
Leave a little Easter treat for guests with an egg cup, chocolate mini eggs, shredded tissue paper, ribbon and cellophane.
roomenvy - cute Easter baskets
Cut favourite fabircs in bird, butterfly and eggs shapes and hang on a floral centrepiece with thread.
roomenvy - stylish Easter centrepiece
Aaaaaaw, how snuggley are these? Keep Easter breakfast eggs warm with knitted cosies!
roomenvy - Cosy Easter eggs
Add a pretty finishing touch to your Easter table with a fancy cutlery tie. You’ll need 2 co-ordinating fabrics, embroidery thread, a flower button and ribbon.
First it steals an hour of our precious weekend sleep, then it steals our sunshine – the month of April has a LOT to answer for!! I’m drowning out the sight of the grey skies and the ‘dare I leave the office at lunch?’ weather, with bright and cheery country kitchen ideas.
Check out these ways to colour your country kitchen from Country Homes & Interiors‘ April issue – I feel less rained upon just looking at them!
roomenvy - jazzy country kitchen shelving
Create an eye-catching display of clocks, radios, trays with bold patterns and accessories in contrasting colours – white-painted cabinetry will ensure they stand out.
roomenvy - handy kitchen office area
If you have enough space, why not create a little office area. The kitchen is usually the heart of a family home, so I love the memo board and wall of blackboard paint – ideal for keeping everyone organised. Add to that the cheery and pretty baskets for sorting and storing magazines, receipts and … dare I say it … bills!
roomenvy - sunny colours dining room
A quick way to bring instant lift to a kitchen is to paint the chairs. Use on colour for a matching set – or mix and match, so when you tire of one shade you can just paint the chair again!
Well after quizzing Channel 4′s Restoration Man, George Clarke, on his family, kids and his home decorating style (I know I’m not the only woman wondering what his living room looks like …) I thought it best I actually ask him some proper home improvement questions.
I mean I wouldn’t say no to the amaaaaaaaaazing HiCan bed? I would just be worried that I would never leave the house! I asked The Gadget Show‘s Suzi Perry to tell me what 5 things she would have in her dream home (the HiCan bed being one of them of course) but it’s really got me thinking about what I’d really want in my dream home. Feel free to send me your lust-have gadgets, errrr, I mean pictures of them …
Some gadgets are bound to clash with your decorating style (I have a HORRIBLE picture in my head of someone draping chintzy floral fabric over this modern design) but some, i’m afraid to say, are just too difficult to resist.
Ooooooooh and see what she thinks will be big in the world of gadgets this year, as I quiz her on technology trends 2010.
It was lovely chatting to Linda Barker at the Ideal Home Show, sneaking all the insider trend tips and discussing decorating mishaps! See what she has to say about home crafting, her key decorating trend for 2010.
Oooh, and why not make the most out of the long weekend by getting stuck in with some crafting yourself. I love these craft ideas by housetohome – they’re perfect to do on Saturday afternoon … then you can admire your handiwork with a belly full of chocolate on Sunday.
Well, there was only one way to find out … head to this year’s Ideal Home Show with a video camera and ask her!! I think I actually remember the incident she’s talking about – time and time again I cringe at some of my decorating mishaps, but at least they weren’t caught on national TV! Oooops.
I LOVED this year’s Ideal Home Show, not least because I got to run around with my video camera, chasing celebrities and begging them to give me some decorating tips!
I always enjoy finding out how celebrities choose to decorate their homes so in between demanding George Clarke for tips on how to become more eco-freindly, and grilling Suzi Perry on her favourite gadgets, I thought it was an opportune moment to find out about their favourite rooms.
When I hounded a very very tall George Clarke (aka the Restoration Man) for his top ways to add value to your home at this year’s Ideal Home Show, he couldn’t have been more emphatic with his ‘more bedrooms and bathrooms’ advice (as he towered over me!) Not someone to pass up on – or keep to myself – an expert’s top tip, I thought I’d have a look at the latest ensuite bathroom ideas.
An ensuite bathroom is the ultimate in hotel-style luxury, but there are plenty of different designs out there. Have a look at these beauties.
roomenvy - vintage ensuite bathroom
Don’t move, improve! A spare room is transformed into a vintage-style bathroom, separated from the bedroom with a glamorous arch.
roomenvy - tucked away ensuite bathroom
The whole bedroom-bathroom trend is big at the moment, but for those who don’t want a tub at the foot of your bed, why not tuck your bathroom area away behind a large screen.
Not so much of an ensuite bathroom as an ensuite hallway shower, but I love the modern feel to this space – even though it might give anyone coming up the adjacent staircase a bit of a fright.
roomenvy - raised ensuite bathroom
Personally, I’ve always liked the idea of a raised ensuite bathroom – it really zones the two areas, and you can transform it into the ultimate pampering hideaway.
Is everyone looking forward to Easter weekend? I don’t know if I’m more excited about the long weekend, or the fact that I’ll be able to eat sweets again … for the whole of the long weekend.
I love housetohome’s Easter decorating ideas, they’re so cute and perfect if you’re having the family over. I love this Easter table setting – mini pots filled with eggs for your guests, and pretty gingham ribbon decorations, it’s as stylish as it is welcoming.
