Ideas for decorating a living room

In the name of hard work, I’ve been flicking through my favourite decorating magazines to check I haven’t missed any beautiful decorating schemes while I was on holiday, and thank GOODNESS I did!

This glamorous living room is sooooo snazzy, very ‘private members club meets chic hotel lobby’ darling! It would be the perfect entertaining zone for Christmas (“it’s coming and not a soul on earth can stop it” Armageddon, 1998).

Here’s how to get the look:

1) Paint the wall behind your TV black for the darkened-cinema effect. Plus, when the screen’s turned off, it will blend into the background.

2) Add punchy colours, such as hot sexy pink, zesty lime and amethyst.

3) Mix styles by teaming traditional scrolled armchairs with modern side tables or a simple drum lampshade with a decorative base.

4) Go for flexible living room furniture that can be used as seats or footstools, allowing your home to switch seamlessly from home cinema to entertaining space and back again.

5) Get the lighting right – fit a dimmer switch and place table and floor lamps in corners, so you can adjust the mood easily.
