Everyone’s loving attic bathrooms, I even heard someone chatting about it in the lift at work (that’s right, chatting in the lift!)
It seems the attic is no longer just for storage boxes, out-of-fashion ski wear and questionable board games. We’ve been hunting on housetohome for our favourites – here’s my lust-worthiest attic bathroom.

Now I’m sure I’m not the only one who dreams of a magical pantry filled with jams, veggies, plaid fabric and … well the odd bottle of homemade cider never hurt anyone, did it? Check out these cute ways to get the ultimate country-style store cupboard. And don’t worry if, like me, you don’t have the space to devote a whole room in your house to jams and chutneys, I’m going to start by hanging a pretty door rack and investing in gorgeous plaid fabrics and go from there.
See more ideas on how to get the perfect country pantry.

p.s I’m note sure that there is anything more ‘Anne of Green Gables’ than having your own apple store, but I’m certainly going to keep my eye out for one.

I’m having fun asking myself the ‘who lives in a house like this’ question when I look at new rooms on the web. At first I predicted this house on Livingetc belonged to a glamorous French poet or eccentric travel writer, but it turns out it belongs to ultra-chic handbag designer, Lulu Guinness.
In hindsight it is everything I’d expect – it’s girly, it’s pretty … and, well, it fits more than just a lipstick and a bunch of house keys! It’s packed with gorgeous accessories and glamorous finishing touches, if only you could take it out dancing!

I would love to recreate the flower mural behind her bed, let me at those stencils!

Is anyone else as HUNGRY for the new Twilight movie/Robert Patterson as me? (Hungry enough to drink blood might be pushing it, but hungry I indeed am!) Well I just cannot wait til November, but luckily Design Tavern has enough to whett my appetite this morning, with pictures of the real life Cullen House! Now you can create the look yourself … perhaps not the location though (not so practical!) – oh if only the gorgeous Robert came with it.
Thank you so much Design Tavern!

Not the house to walk around in your underwear!

I just LOVE that oversized floor lamp
All in all, I really like this house, but I think it looks much better with Robert Pattinson in it. I don’t think I could handle being that exposed (so many windows), plus climbing all those trees to get to it might start to become a bit of a nuisance.

I would love to think that if someone walked into my house they would INSTANTLY know that I worked for an interior decorating website, but the truth is they probably think I work as either an emma bridgewater spokeswoman … or a wine critic (imagine!)
I then began to wonder who lives in all these houses I ’step inside’ during the day. And indeed, what sort of house would a handsome lawyer, investment banker or doctor live in – and when can I move in?
See if you can guess the profession of the owners of these gorgeous houses. In the mix we have a) a dairy farmer, b) a property developer c) an interior designer d) an air hostess and e) an architect. Find the answers below.
1) Boho-chic Victorian terrace

We’ve been voting for our favourite children’s rooms in the office. Don’t worry, there’s been no hair pulling or name calling, but the real difficulty has been cutting them down to 10 best girls’ bedrooms and 10 best boys’ bedrooms (phew – and I thought choosing my outfit for this evening was tough!)
So here are my winners. I just don’t know whether to congratulate the parents or the children??
This girl’s bedroom is just magical – i’d happily sleep here at my age (minus the cuddly toys though … maybe)

roomenvy - girl's bedroom
I love this playful boy’s bedroom – now how many of you can say that you grew up with a giant WIGWAM in your bedroom.

…. and if you’re suddenly feeling a bit miffed about your childhood room, just be thankful you didn’t grow up in this children’s room …. BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID
Feel free to send me any worthy competitors (jennifer_drew@ipcmedia.com)

I LOVE shaker kitchens, and believe me, that’s nothing to do with my knowledge of 17th century American history. What’s great is that they’re really timeless and can be tailored to suit your style. So if you thought that to have a shaker kitchen meant you had to have an oast house in Kent with a golden labrador called Bonnie (was I day-dreaming?), think again!
So now for the all-important question – HOW DO YOU SHAKE YOURS?
Freestanding shaker-style kitchen – perfect if you get bored easily and want to rearrange your scheme. (This design by Plain English is perfect for the look.)

roomenvy - shaker kitchen for restless souls
Modern shaker-style kitchen - switch round door knobs for sleek metal handles and hey presto! (Visit Second Nature for more modern kitchen designs.)

roomenvy - shaker kitchens for the modern lovers
Wooden shaker-style kitchen - could work in both contemporary or rustic schemes, depending on the wood. (Crabtree has loads more shaker-style looks like this.)

roomenvy - shaker kitchens for contemporary cooks
Period shaker-style kitchen - ah the traditional country-style option, maybe invest in that oast house after all. (I just LOVE this design by Smallbone.)

roomenvy - shaker kitchens for country bumpkins
Colourful shaker-style kitchen – colour your kitchen happy by going for units in an accent colour. (Love it, too? Check out John Lewis of Hungerford.)

Finally, a way to brighten up bathrooms! I hate staring at dull white tiles when I’m relaxing in the tub, so when I spied this gorgeous mosaic design, I could hardly contain my excitement.
I love the black and white flower design and subtle glimpses of colour in the top right hand corner. The perfect bathtub view!
Check out more inspiring bathroom ideas and find out how to use mosaics on housetohome.co.uk .

Check out this cool bedroom wallpaper idea from Livingetc.com. It’s a great alternative to a bold feature wall and what a sunny sight to wake up to! In fact, the walls have been kept pretty neutral, with cow-print carpet tiles adding interest to the floor (poor Daisy though!).
The rest of the house is just as eclectic as this children’s bedroom. I’m sure they won’t mind if you take a little look around this New York brownstone house … just remember to wipe your feet!

No, it’s not a modern take on the whole ‘walking on hot coals’ fiasco, these are the new eco-friendly fireplace designs by EcoSmart Fire. I saw this room while I was rummaging around on FreshHome. I do like a ‘green living’ option every now and again, and this idea is certainly a striking focal point (and talking point!).
However, I think I’ll stick to my traditional chimney breast and fire grate for the moment. That said, it does make me wonder what would happen to poor Father Christmas if he was faced with one of these!
Find out more about this living room.
