Back to school!

August 18, 2009

What a great way to get the entire family organised. I came across this cool chalkboard calendar home office on HomeShoppingSpy and think it’s a great way to keep track of events (and deadlines …), as well as livening up a work space. Use different grey paint shades for the checkerboard, and then update it each month with chalk!

Snap happy! Photo feature wall

August 12, 2009

Check out this home office idea from Apartment Therapy. A grid of photos makes a colourful feature wall without getting out the paint pots or wallpaper paste! I really like their idea of using photos to document guests. Keep a polaroid camera on the hallway table for a modern take on the traditional guest book, then add the latest visitor to your wall!

p.s I bet you can’t guess what this home owner does for a living …

Because sometimes one TV just isn’t enough …

July 24, 2009

If you have the money, I think it’s a great idea to invest in two TVs so that everyone can see the screen when you have lots of guests round. I certainly wouldn’t say no myself and I think it makes a quirky statement – but I do think they should be at least a little bit spaced apart? I do love that mosaic wall mural though.

What an eyeful!

July 21, 2009

I don’t remember such comfortable seating during my last visit to the Eiffel Tower, but I think this wall sticker from Rockett St George makes a real statement … non? The great thing about wall stickers is that they’re reversible, so why not set up camp under the Statue of Liberty next year?

Album art

Are you a music lover?  I like this idea if you’ve got plenty of old record covers.  They’ve made a gallery, evenly spaced across the wall, with white strips providing a pannel effect.

Put up a panel

June 22, 2009

The owners of this bathroom have used a panel of water-resistant wallpaper to add a splash of pattern.  I think it looks great as you walk into the room.  I’m considering covering the doors of my bathroom cabinet in something similar to get the effect.

Wallpapered kitchen

May 13, 2009

Check out the corner of this kitchen.  It could have been potentially a bit dull.  However, a feature wall of dramatic black and white wallpaper to match the kitchen scheme looks stunning.

Mirror, mirror on the wall

May 5, 2009

Check out the panelling in this dining room.  A series of square mirrors make an eye-catching feature.  Love it or hate it, it’s definitely more interesting that a simple lick of paint.

Picture perfect

April 16, 2009

Check out this idea for solving the problem of a dull blank wall.  Group together frames of different sizes, it doesn’t matter what pictures you put in as long as the frames are all the same style.

To the letter

April 7, 2009

Tired of photo frames? Can’t choose a wallpaper? Here’s an alphabetical alternative to a feature wall. With a great range of stencils to buy on the web, simply choose an inspiring phrase, or a few lines of script, and paint in a contrasting colour – decorating just got poetic!
