Guess how much this bathroom update cost?

November 22, 2010

A grand old £94.98… or the cost of two tops and a pair of shoes according to a mini shopping trip this weekend… and I doubt the shoes will last as long.

I love the exotic bamboo theme – it’s a fresh take on the classic spa-style bathroom look. The look is kept simple with a white suite and neutral floor tiles, but bold bamboo wallpaper adds oomph, especially with complementing accessories.

There’s supporting the World Cup and then there’s …

June 10, 2010

THIS! I’m all for a little cheek paint here, and an England top there, but an England-inspired bathroom? It’s confusion like I’ve never encountered. I’m just praying that this bathroom decorating scheme is inspired by some deep-routed sense or patriotism, or love of history, and not by their love of football. On the other hand, if it is in support of this year’s World Cup, I’m happy to see that someone has enough faith in the England team to permanently hang a giant red Perspex CROSS!

Not my taste, but I admire their patriotism (goodness knows we’ll need it!)

Bathroom design ideas for every style

June 10, 2010

Housetohome is doing a series of the best traditional, modern and country rooms at the moment and I LOVE peering through the galleries to hunt for my favourites. The really tricky bit for me is deciding what style I am, because just when I’ve sat down with a cup of tea in front of the beautiful country style scheme, in PROUDLY strolls a modern design which pretty much stamps all over the chintzy little design – meany.

I’m thinking a lot about bathrooms this week, so these ideas couldn’t have come at a better time. Here are my favourite looks for each style.

The ultimate ‘me time’ bathroom

February 4, 2010

How cute is this pretty country-style bathroom? I can almost hear the Enya!

This is what I call a ‘don’t you bother me’ bathroom. Most commonly said through clenched teeth and a look across your face of overall ‘hard day’ weariness (that’s also crying out for a glass of wine … please)

Housetohome have just the ways to get the look, from choosing a gorgeous bath and making sure you have a chair for painting nails and pampering, to dispensing your lotions and potions in pretty ceramic bottles! … although I do wonder, if I had enough spare time to spend doing the latter, would I be lusting so much after a relaxing soak in the first place?

This is another of those ‘how do they work for 50 hours a week and still have time to fold a point into their toilet paper’ moments.
