Summer of Love: top 3 bathrooms

September 10, 2010

Bathrooms are top of my agenda today – and I’m determined to find three amazing schemes to appear in my Summer of Love shortlist.

1) Top of the list is this little beauty from Fresh Home. The floor-to-ceiling windows create a seamless flow between inside and out, and the view is to die for! All I need now is a white fluffy robe (and maybe a personal masseuse) and I’m good to go.

2) Now the next bathroom might not have the same wow factor, but its elegant design and country-style accessories have completely won me over.

I love the roll-top bath and decorative screen – not to mention the white-painted panelled walls. It’s the definition of cool, calm and collected. Bliss.

3) Last, but not least, is this luxury bathroom from Livingetc.com.

This amazing bathroom has a bespoke combined shower and bath that creates a truly stunning feature. And the best part? It’s big enough for two!

My favourite rooms from the Ideal Home Show

August 11, 2009

Missed the Ideal Home Show this year? Fear not! Although I was lucky enough to have a quick mosey round, i’ve only just seen the photos from the day – now everyone can get the ideas without paying for the ticket! The room sets are PACKED with decorating inspiration to sink your teeth into (not literally … although that might be an idea for next year?).

spa-style bathroom

Copper mosaic tiles are perfect for a hint of spa-chic style, and those large chunky candles just scream ‘leave me alone, i’m relaxing!’.

hotel-chic bedroom

I love the retro-style square door handles in this bedroom, perfect for giving a bargain bit of furniture a designer look (just keep it schtum!)

country garden decking

This cute garden decking area is all about the finishing touches, pot shelves to liven up the walls, and pretty bunting to set the garden party mood.

aubergine kitchen-diner

Is it a chandelier? Is it an extractor hood? I know most people have seen this by now, but I really do love it – the glossy purple kitchen splashback and unit are fab, too!

funky children's bedroom

For me, the seating area is the best bit of this children’s room. They can ‘chill’ (i can’t pull that off anymore) with their mates and listen to music together – parents KEEP OUT!

The bathrooms that time forgot!

August 6, 2009

I had a serious dose of ANTI room envy when I came across this gallery of bathroom disasters and I couldn’t help but come over all shivery! I have been panicking that my bathroom needs a new look, but this has calmed me down a bit … well, sort of!

Dodgy eighties sitcom set? Or are we expecting the cast of The Little Mermaid to show up?

Some people may love this, but for me, patterned wallpaper and matching curtains do not a stylish bathroom make.

Spot the toilet? You wouldn’t be punished for thinking that this wooden toilet was actually a handy bit of extra storage … shudder.

It’s not acceptable in the eighties! Let’s hope the avocado suite with orange shelving doesn’t make a comeback.

Up the garden bath!

August 3, 2009

Check out this outdoor bathroom from Swedish blog CreativeActivity. They’ve taken the latest indoor-outdoor style trend to a new level, by keeping the seating area inside and the shower and tub on the patio outside. If the weather’s great it’s a really cool idea – and if it’s not, well … nothing says ‘natural spa style’ like a rainwater shower! I don’t think I have the luxury of incorporating this in my home, but i love those Moroccan-style tiles.

You don’t have to visit a spa to get that luxury feel at home – these watercolour purple mosaic tiles are a great way to get bathroom style from head to toe. Team with a minimalist tub to complete the look.

The colour purple

December 17, 2008

Bored of the traditional bathroom look? Bright accessories and practical storage in berry shades match the deep-purple flooring perfectly. I like how they haven’t gone too over the top and kept the walls in a lighter shade. Now, where can i get those lilac shutters?
