Can I come in? John Mayer’s New York pad

October 11, 2010

I imagine I feel about as inspired by John Mayer‘s home as Jennifer Aniston feels about his relationship skills. I was expecting it to have a little bit more personality and warmth, but instead it seems he’s paid the Armani Casa design team to create a grown up pad which although contains absolutely STUNNING furniture pieces and furnishings, doesn’t really say much about the musician, himself.

Am I being too harsh?

Check out Apartment Therapy for more pictures of his home, as featured in Elle Decor.

This is my favourite room in the home… mainly because of the funky picture gallery, and, let’s face it, the guitars!!

Can I come in? Donna Karan’s West Indies home

July 5, 2010

I LOVE browsing designer homes, and fashion designer, Donna Karan‘s, beautiful tropical abode is the epitomy of this! Thanks Architectural Digest, this was such a great find!

Now, I’m not saying I didn’t enjoy waking up to the sound of the dustbin men clearing the bottles from my local pub, but somehow it doesn’t compare to a Monday morning chilling out by the pool in this exotic escape.

A large coffee table is a must-have to sit around with friends after dinner…

Can I come in? Sienna Miller’s London home

June 18, 2010

Who knew Sienna Miller had a Turkish bath??! If i had one I’d be shouting it from the rooftops! Check out the elaborate tiles and cosy chill-out areas. There’s enough room to bathe an entire army, never mind the tiny Sienna…

The rest of her pad – located in the swanky St John’s Wood area of North London – has a chilled out, bohemian vibe to it. A bookshelf is used to display a fascinating array of hats, while an impressive staircase takes centre stage .

Can I come in? Penelope Cruz’s home

May 10, 2010

I always thought Penelope Cruz had taste? (Hmmmm, actually, I forgot about Tom Cruise…) Now I admit that this large LA pad is – especially in comparison to my teeny tiny flat – somewhat fantastic (the pool alone is enough to make my mouth water) … although I must say the interior décor is just not my style at all.

The kitchen is too dark for me, and a bit dated, I really don’t like the dining chairs, and the garden room looks like it’s been decorated with four large shabby hair extensions!

Entertainers, Experts and Editors – what room do you envy?

March 9, 2010

After peering through the keyhole into Samantha Roddick’s home – no, seriously (below) – I am becoming more and more intrigued as to what inspires people to decorate in the way they do. I’m curious, did her decorating style come before she founded Coco de Mer, or was it inspired by her store (call it, The Chicken and the Erotic Egg’ theory!)

Anyway, I thought I’d give you a break from my ramblings every once in a while, by inviting some of my favourite celebrities, decorating gurus and even a handful of magazine editors (not an Anna Wintour in sight, I promise … although I’d love to hear her thoughts!) to share what makes them excited in the world of interiors … or what makes them run a mile!

Can I come in? Julianne Moore’s townhouse

January 15, 2010

As much as I’d like to quiz Julianne Moore on what it was like to kiss Pierce Brosnan and Hugh Grant, I would only be distracted if I was invited to her beautiful West Village townhouse in New York – not that I would turn down the offer of course!!

Those celebrity homes fanatics at Casasugar have taken me on a little lunchtime tour. Thanks guys … wouldn’t have minded a Pierce Brosnan-style guide, though!

Hotel-style decorating – the celebrity way

January 13, 2010

If I had bags of money, an assistant to organise the DIY for me, and the constant chore of staying away from home – how would I decorate?

Casasugar always has the celebrity answer!

Guess which well-known stars own these luxurious hotels.
