Festive Fetish: blue and silver Christmas

December 21, 2010

Blue is a great accent colour for Christmas if you’re going for a show-stopping modern look. I love these Christmas decorating schemes from Livingetc – they’re packed with ways to introduce blue into your scheme without making it seem cold and uninviting.

Save space on your Christmas dining table by hanging your centrepiece above it instead. Strung with baubles and lights, this is a sleek modern alternative to candles and holly.

‘Calmenvy’

noun 1 a sudden longing for relaxing thoughts whilst doing some last-minute Christmas shopping. 2 (the calmenvy of) skill in carrying out last-minute Christmas shopping without wanting to lie down in Debenhams and take a nap!

Phew! I’ve made the most of a long weekend to get all everything sorted for Christmas, and besides a slight Christmas party dress buying ‘relief’ (what? It’s uniform?) I managed to get through it unscathed.

However, this morning i’ve been hunting for some tips to help Christmas day run as smoothly as possible (who KNOWS how many party dresses i’ll buy otherwise?) It might not be ‘roomenvy’, but in the interest of ‘calmenvy’ have a look at these tips.

KIRSTIE ALLSOPP’S TOP FAMILY CHRISTMAS TIPS – for everthing from distracting the kids with Christmas films to keeping your guests ‘well-watered’.

HOUSETOHOME’S GUIDE TO A STRESS-FREE CHRISTMAS from how to be prepared to smart-shopping tips (and emergency contact numbers – eeek!)
