Fun with florals

July 25, 2012

Here at 25 Beautiful Homes we’ve always loved a pretty floral print, and whether it’s rain or shine, they never fail to put a smile on our faces. From delicate to bold, graphic to vintage, floral prints help create a warm feel within the home…

We love this feminine boudoir which uses shades of soft pink and cream, with a delicate floral design.

Vintage-style florals are used within this dining area on the cushions, tablecloth and within the shelving unit. They’re even carried through to the crockery, with some pretty blooms as a centrepiece on the table.

A bright-coloured floral wallpaper has been used to create a feature wall in this sitting room, with a variety of pretty cushions and equally bright curtains. Bold, yet beautiful.

Bank holiday lust: Ditsy florals

August 26, 2010

Thinking about redecorating over the bank holiday? Sweet small-scale flower designs are huge this season, so why not create a country look with pretty chintzy patterns?

All you need is a little imagination (courtesy of Country Homes & Interiors), a sprinkling of 1950s florals and a hint of nostalgia…

Mini-prints, pink 1950s florals and bright graphics on cushions make for a homely corner when piled on a daybed.

Working from home over the bank holiday? Create a cheerful workstation with a collection of floral box files and notebooks.

A tied headboard and layers of cushions, pillows and quilts create the perfect look in the bedroom.

Cute, cute, cute! I love this cottage-style curtain. Simply tie in place with ribbon for an informal way to hide clutter. Complete the look with a bunch of fresh flowers.

So there you have it – ditzy florals in a nutshell. For more inspirational country schemes check out Housetohome.co.uk.

Friday’s Fetish: Decorating with modern romance

October 23, 2009

I’m in the mood for something a bit romantic to kick-start my weekend (must have been all that chat about lazyboys!) and have been really inspired by the Decorating inspiration: Modern Romance gallery on Livingetc.com.

All you have to do is release your inner flirt!

Choose soft pink pastels for your walls and team with hot fuchsia florals and a glistening pendant in the bedroom.

Sprinkle flowers on white-washed floorboards. Choose a pretty stencil and fill in with a candy pink paint shade. I’m definitely stealing this dining room idea to create a rug-effect in my bedroom!

Hang a feminine and striking floral wallpaper behind your dressing area to define the space and team with a statement mirror for oodles of boudoir glamour.

So there you have it, modern romance, without being expected to fork out on half of the dinner bill!

The ultimate accessory

October 12, 2009

I’m having fun asking myself the ‘who lives in a house like this’ question when I look at new rooms on the web. At first I predicted this house on Livingetc belonged to a glamorous French poet or eccentric travel writer, but it turns out it belongs to ultra-chic handbag designer, Lulu Guinness.

In hindsight it is everything I’d expect – it’s girly, it’s pretty … and, well, it fits more than just a lipstick and a bunch of house keys! It’s packed with gorgeous accessories and glamorous finishing touches, if only you could take it out dancing!

I would love to recreate the flower mural behind her bed, let me at those stencils!

A touch of nostalgia

April 8, 2009

I just love the cute shabby-chic feel of this dining room – here are the three things I think make the look.

1) Pretty polka dot tableware in sweet sugared-almond shades.

2) Rustic white-washed furniture for a laid-back country feel

3) Farmhouse rose curtains and cushions teamed with chalky walls

Plus, i’d love to get my hands on one of those cute memo-boards with shelves – great for reminders and storing your post.

Statement furniture

This living room shows how a few well chosen pieces of furniture can really become the star of the show.  I love the cabinets at the end and the collection of birdcages is a cute touch.
