Children’s decorating ideas for every style

October 29, 2010

Whenever I’m in the mood for shopping, I go straight to Ellie, Deputy Shopping Editor of Ideal Home‘s blog HomeShoppingSpy for a quick fix. And what’s GREAT is that she’s a colleague, so browsing through what my next home purchase will be is basically work, right?

Anyway, we hunted Ellie down when she was doing her own shopping (aren’t we rude??) at Caravan Style in London, to quiz her on her top decorating ideas. Check out this children’s decorating ideas for every age video for some fab tips! … they almost made me broody… almost.

How to make your TV disappear – POOF!

October 14, 2010

I love snuggling up to watch a marathon of movies, especially around Christmas and New Year, trouble is, sometimes the ‘ultimate TV’ just doesn’t go! For me it’s like buying a pair of shoes a size too small that you could only walk in on crutches, but that ultimately look better – a TV is a practical buy in my house… and I live in fear of a boyfriend bringing in a giant jet black monster of one.

However, I really enjoyed listening to Marks & Spencer‘s decorator extraordinaire Sally chatting about how to incorporate a TV in your living room. Job 1) Chuck out old black 1990s-style TV (I can describe TVs in the same way I can describe cars) in favour of a lighter flat screen!

August 13, 2010

I love these easy peasy dinner party ideas by celebrity chef Jo Pratt. It’s tough enough trying to cater for a fruitarian here and a cheese-hater there, but how do you set a beautiful table for your friends and family to enjoy? Jo has the answer!

What do you think? Oooh and does anyone have any suggestions for themed dinner parties?

Home office organisation tips

July 26, 2010

Organising your home office is just SO easy when you have BEAUTIFUL accessories and pretty country-style finishing touches to complete the look – and that’s EXACTLY how I’d justify (to a boyfriend, husband … or to HSBC) spending money on a study clear of clutter!

Country Homes & Interiors editor, Rhoda Parry, has some GREAT ways to keep your paperwork in check, your events calendar up to date, oh and how to create a home office that’s not too … ‘officey’ … After all, you’re gonna have to have somewhere to retreat to when your other half sees the shopping bill!

What’s Linda Barker’s biggest decorating disaster?

March 30, 2010

Well, there was only one way to find out … head to this year’s Ideal Home Show with a video camera and ask her!! I think I actually remember the incident she’s talking about – time and time again I cringe at some of my decorating mishaps, but at least they weren’t caught on national TV! Oooops.
